Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals
We are the BCBP. Our name, Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals, conceptualized by Tony O. Vasquez, signifies caring, fellowship, and service—the defining characteristics of a truly Christian community.
Tracing our beginnings to the Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon Covenant Community, we are dedicated to the transformation of our members into disciples of Christ who embody Christian values and principles, especially in their respective businesses and professions.
Our vision is straightforward: “Bringing Christ into the marketplace and winning the marketplace for Christ.”
Our mission is stated as follows:
“We are a community of business people and professionals committed to living out Christian values and being change agents in the marketplace. We accomplish this through a process of ongoing personal conversion, a commitment to professional excellence,
community and nation-building, practice of justice and integrity, and responsible care for all entrusted to us.”
It was July 1980 when 12 men met at the Makati Sports Club in what was to be the first Men’s Breakfast. As more and more businessmen and professionals attended succeeding Breakfasts, BCBP history unfolded through many firsts, and to this day, continuing expansion and evangelistic work.
Presently, our 18,000 membership base and presence are as follows:
• Philippines – 125 Chapters, 31 Outreaches and 39 Missions;
• USA/Canada – 7 Chapters, 5 Outreaches and 12 Missions;
• Asia Pacific – 1 Chapter, 2 Outreaches and 2 Missions.
In 2016, BCBP joined UNIAPAC (International Christian Union of Business Executives), a Paris-based organization with 45,000 business executive members from 40 countries. Supporting business leaders in their personal and professional development, UNIAPAC likewise encourages them to contribute to a more just and humane society. BCBP’s “Business as a Noble Vocation” program, developed for business owners and CEOs as part of its evangelization efforts to promote fairness, justice, and integrity in organizations, is now being translated into Spanish, German, and French for use by UNIAPAC members, enlarging our global reach in business evangelization.
In 2023, the BCBP and the Sword of the Spirit International signed an agreement formalizing our inclusion in the growing SOS family. While sharing a common vision, way of life, and spiritual culture, both communities are committed to living and striving by the power of the Holy Spirit, so that others
may find true life in Christ.
Our “Be Honest-Tapat Dapat” advocacy has gained momentum in recent years. As BCBP members own, live, and amplify the value of honesty, they shall serve as Honesty Champions in their homes, workplaces, and social circles.
In the words of our founder, Fr. Herbert Schneider, SJ, “Jesus’ mission defined His life. May the BCBP vision
and mission define our life as a people sent to bring Jesus into the marketplace and win it for Him.”
