Jesus Nazareno Charismatic -FVCFI

The Jesus Nazareno FVC – Catholic Charismatic Fellowship International Inc., also known as “Jesus Nazareno Charismatic – FVCFI,” is headed by Bro. Angelo M. Vargas, a public figure and former talent/artist of TV5’s “Wow Mali.” Also a former beauty queen of LGBTQIA+, Angelo experienced a crisis that almost led him to receive a court order allegedly for the fabricated issue on a cyber libel case on August 20, 2014. Together with his mother, they searched for someone who could help them with their situation.

It was February 18, 2017 when a group of young people from Hijos Del Nazareno of Quiapo Church (Balangay Central - Pilak Chapter) asked him to receive the image of the Black Nazarene to stay in their home for a week. At first, he was hesitant but his mother insisted he accept it. He then gave all his time to pray and reflect in the presence of the Black Nazarene. He also treated this as a sign from heaven that might help them overcome their trial.

True enough, after four months, on May 3, 2017, his case was dismissed by the court and this miracle was attributed to the Black Nazarene. As Luke 1:37 tells us, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
With deep gratitude, Bro. Angelo went to Pampanga to commission a personal image of the Black Nazarene and to spread devotion to it. With the help and effort of Sis. Mayette Dean, the five-foot image was officially recognized and registered in the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, Quiapo, Manila on October 7, 2018 as FVC or Familia Vargas Chapter with 12 initial members that year.

On January 8, 2019, after the Jesus Nazareno Replica’s blessings at the patio of Quiapo Church, the group was met by Most. Rev. Teodoro C. Bacani Jr. D.D., Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Novaliches, at his residence in San Carlos Seminary. He is an active and loving supporter of the Charismatic movement, and the group then became part of the Charismatic Renewal Movement to catechize the members and deepen the devotion to the Black Nazarene through the Word of God, formation, and Sunday gathering. These taught them to adapt to the charismatic way of praise and worship evangelization.

On March 31, 2019, the Jesus Nazareno FVCFI was recognized by the Epiphany of the Lord Parish. It held its first Eucharistic Celebration at Tupaz Residence, Phase 6, Brgy. 178, Caloocan City as a “Street Mass.” The first Overall Spiritual Director Rev. Fr. Reynaldo S. Tano, MGL joined the Federation of Transparochial Charismatic Communities on December 4, 2021. At present, it holds its regular activities at the Yap Residence in Mangga St. corner Sampaloc St. Kiko, Brgy. 178, Camarin, Caloocan City. The community is under the leadership of Bro. Angelo M. Vargas and its Overall Spiritual Adviser Most. Rev. Deogracias S. Iñiguez.

The Jesus Nazareno FVCFI continues its mission today, faithfully spreading the devotion to the Black Nazarene and steadfast in the Word of God through intensive evangelization and outreach missions. This shows the virtue of following the command of Jesus to His disciples in Matthew 28:19-20: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
