Rivers of Living Water Catholic Community
On December 14, 1992, 22 people were led to move out of its mother community, the Spirit of Love Catholic Community. Bound by a common sense of calling to minister to people in a different way, they courageously sought and discerned God’s specific direction for them. It was decided on December 22, 1992 that they would form a prayer group. This date later became the official anniversary of Rivers of Living Water Catholic Community.
Thirty-two years later, the Good Lord in His loving mercy continues to bless the Rivers Community, making things possible and opening avenues for greater things to come. From beginning to this day, what followed was grace upon grace.
From SM Megamall, Rivers transitioned to the Layforce Chapel in San Carlos Seminary Compound on January 25, 2012; and from a televised Sunday Mass to a more intimate community Mass alternately presided by then Spiritual Director Fr. Dave Concepcion and a select group of clergy whom the Lord continuously sent for its spiritual feeding.
Rivers pursued its mission and vision and its Faith Development Path—which gives members the privilege and opportunity to deepen their faith and establish a more personal relationship with our Lord—under its current Spiritual Director Fr. Domie Guzman and the two remaining Founding Members: Sis. Pempe Rodrigo and Sis. Nona Reyes.
The need for its own center was a persistent, fervent inspiration in the hearts of its members. They dreamed of Galilee, its community home. In search of where to build this center, a blessing surfaced when Bro. Lito Roman, former Servant Administrator of Rivers, offered his place
in Maryland St., Quezon City for the rising of The Galilee. The elders and leaders lost no time in making this dream come true.
On December 22, 2017 the doors of The Galilee – Center for Spiritual Formation and Worship were opened to its members and guests to celebrate the 25th founding anniversary of the community and the blessing of the building. On April 14, 2018, the community finally transferred to Galilee and held its first prayer meeting in its own home.
Meanwhile, Rivers Cebu Chapter was established in February 1996 and
flourishes to this day.
With God’s continuous grace, Rivers remains guided by its vision to be
a community of God that gathers in joyful worship and is a source of healing, nourishment, and a transformed life; and its mission to renew, develop, and form members and fellow believers to make worship their way of life, drawing others to God in fellowship and committed service.
